Special Screening: "The Killing of Sister George" at Riverside Studios

Special Screening:
To coincide with Maureen Chadwick's new play "The Speed Twins", Riverside Studios are running a special screening of the iconic movie, "The Killing Of Sister George" on Sunday 15th of September at 2pm, with The Speed Twins Sunday matinee at 5pm.

See both The Killing of Sister George and The Speed Twins for just £22.50 (£17.50 concs.). This offer is available through the Riverside Box Office: 020 8237 1111 or counter only.

The Speed Twins (Riverside Studio 3, August 29th – September 28th) is set in a spectral version of the iconic lesbian bar, The Gateways, made famous in 1969 when it was featured in Robert Aldrich’s movie of The Killing of Sister George, starring Susannah York, Beryl Reid and Coral Browne, and including a ten minute fancy dress scene filmed on location in the real-life club. For many years the film represented the only mainstream depiction of the lesbian lifestyle on screen and for The Speed Twins lead character, Queenie, it would have been a rare glimpse into the alternative world of the life she didn’t pursue, but which haunts her still.
